Lockheed Martin

The US Census

In 2000 and 2010, Lockheed Martin carried out the census for the United States; in 2001 and 2011 the census for the United Kingdom; and in 2006 and 2011 the census for Canada. Lockheed Martin is America’s largest military contractor, making fighter planes, cluster bombs, combat ships, and designing nuclear weapons. It is also the largest private intelligence contractor in the world, working in the past on surveillance programs for the Pentagon, the CIA, and the NSA, and making biometric identification systems for the FBI. In 2015, the investigative website The Intercept published leaked documents showing that “The Jamboree,” an annual gathering sponsored by the CIA’s Information Operations Center, had been hosted by Lockheed Martin in 2012. In President Eisenhower’s farewell address to the nation in 1961, he stated, “In the councils of government, we must guard against the acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the military-industrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.”
