The Glass Room was first created in 2016 and presented in Berlin. Since then, there have been major exhibitions in different cities around the world.
After some time and due to its large success, the large exhibitions were slimmed down to a lightweight version that allowed over a hundred partners to host their own events. The smaller versions include the IoT, Community Edition, and the Misinformation Edition.
The Glass Room San Francisco ran from 16 October to 3 November 2019 with over 20,000 visitors, a daily program of events, and over 50 artworks that playfully and provocatively explore our relationship to technology.
The Glass Room London was the third major exhibition of its kind taking place in 2017. Once again curated by Tactical Tech and presented by Mozilla, the event gathered around 19,000 visitors in 18 days.
This event was conducted in 2016 and was located next to SoHo in downtown Manhattan. The Glass Room's impact - from media coverage, to attendance, to engagement – far exceeded all expectations.
This was the first edition of the major exhibition in 2016 held in the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW) in Berlin.
The Glass Room Plus
The Glass Room Plus is smaller than the Glass Rooms in London, New York and San Francisco but is also a curated exhibition designed for major cultural events and venues. The first two Glass Room Plus events were hosted at the Lodz Design Festival and the Copernicus Science Centre Warsaw in Poland. Both were highly successful, reaching over 20,000 people.
The Glass Room Plus usually includes a combination of 10-15 commissioned art objects, info graphics and digital works. We continually review and update the content and will be developing new themes and objects in 2020.
The latest edition of this format takes place in Leeuwarden & Amsterdam in 2021.
